Do you have access to high-speed internet?

If you have a high-speed internet connection and telephone service, seek CapTel models ending in the lower-case letter “i.” CapTel 840i, CapTel 880i, and CapTel 2400i use your internet connection to provide captions. If you don’t have access to the internet, our 840 model is designed to work smoothly using an analog telephone line. To initiate the captions, your callers will dial the captioning service first, and then enter your phone number to ensure you receive captions of the call. For all CapTel models, any call you make will automatically have captions, provided the captions are turned on.

Do you prefer a traditional style phone or a touch-screen display?

If you prefer a model that closely resembles a traditional style telephone, look to the CapTel 840i, CapTel 880i, and CapTel 840 models, all which offer a similar look and feel to a standard phone. If a modern touch-screen display is more up your alley, check out CapTel 2400i that features a large color display that looks similar to a tablet computer.

Do you experience low vision?

With all CapTel models, you can adjust the font size and colors to make it easy to read the captions. If you need an extra-large display to make the caption size even larger, the CapTel 880i is a great option for you. This captioned telephone has extra-large font sizes and display options for easy reading.

Would you like to personalize the tone settings?

All CapTel models feature powerful amplification and tone control, letting you adjust for both volume and high or low frequency sounds to maximize your hearing ability.  The CapTel 2400i takes it a step further, also letting you customize the various sound frequencies to match your personal audiogram. Whichever model you choose, you can experiment with the tone settings to find the optimal sound for your hearing level.
